進化するクラッシックボーダー

昨日から仕事初めの方が多かったのか、今日もまだ明治神宮界隈は多くのスーツ姿の参拝者でにぎわっています。まだまだお正月気分もぬけきらないところもありますが、そろそろお仕事モードにギアチェンジですね。昨年暮れにカネキチ工業の岡谷さんから電話があって、進化したクラッシックボーダーの試作が送られてきました。こりゃスゴイって、一見して僕らは思うのですが、一般的には普通な感じなんですね。しかしながら吊り編み機でこれができるようになるとは夢にも思いませんでしたから、カネキチさんの現場のみなさん相当に研究されたんだろうなと思います。
It seems, based on the amount of people in suits in the Meiji Jingu neighborhood that work has began for many yesterday. The New Year feeling has still not completely escaped, but I guess that soon it will be time to change gear in to work mode. Towards the end of last year I received a phone call from Mr Okaya of Kanekichi Industries and he sent us the progressing trial production for the classic border. At a glance we all thought that this fabric was amazing, but to most it would go unnoticed. I however never dreamed that we would be able to produce such a fabric using a Loopwheel machine and I think that this fabric required considerable research by all those at Kanekichi Industries.
白い部分が数十センチ続いたあとに、ボーダーが続く編み方を僕たちは「パネルボーダー」と呼んでいます。パネルボーダーは、ボーダーを設計する時に、製品のデザインを確定させておかないとなりません。それもXS~XLまでのサイズがきちんと入るように、無地の部分がボディのどの辺りに何十センチでて、そこから裾までずっとボーダーでいくのか、それとも裾部分はまた無地にするのか、などなどと生地を編み立てる前にガーメントデザインの設計を全て終えておかないとならないわけです。さらには、クラッシックボーダーの切替装置の設定も通常のボーダーの設定より、かなり手間と時間をかかて、調整をしないとならないので、今回このようなパネルボーダーが試編みできたことは、かなりの進化だと考えています。3月に通常のボーダーのカラー違いをリリースする予定ですので、そのあと、夏頃には、このパネルボーダーに挑戦したいと思っています。@鈴木さとし
After the 10cm plain white section continues the knit section that we call the ‘panel border’. For the panel border, when the border section is laid out the design of the product must be decided in advance. Thus, so that that it fits correctly within all sizes from XS to XL, things must be decided such as from where on the design the 10cm plain section will begin and from there whether the rest will be border section, or whether to switch back to the plain section etc. All of these things must be established before the fabric is knitted. Furthermore, the set-up of the classic border switching loom equipment takes a lot more time and labor than the standard border set-up and must also be adjusted, thus making this latest panel border trial knit a real development.
